The Creator's Checkup

Helping You Become the Creator You Were Created to Be

A Billion to One

Do numbers matter? Yes and no.

If you are focused on the one person you are called to help...then big numbers don't matter.

But as you focus on one person at a time, your impact expands - and now your numbers reveal your focus.

In other words, numbers matter because people count.

That's the takeaway I took from attending the "Beyond a Billion" Celebration and Partner Summit. Fellowshipping and connecting with amazing creators, publishers and YouVersion team members who have dedicated their lives to spreading the Word of God was truly inspiring.

And over and over, we heard stories of individuals that have been impacted by the Bible app - stories that have multiplied over time til they have reached the milestone of a billion installations of their app on devices around the world.

However, it started with a failure - a website that didn't work, and that was reformatted for the new App Store just when God orchestrated it.

My question to you is - are you focusing on the one?

Is it possible that God could grow your vision to reach billions if you are faithful with the one? The example of YouVersion proves that God can use anything - even a project where things don't look like they are working.

Don't let the numbers intimidate you. Keep seeking and serving the one with your creative gifts- and watch God multiply your impact.

Divine Attention to Details As we step into this year's celebration of the risen Savior, one thought has been echoing in my mind. Jesus had the most important mission of all time - which meant He had the most potential distractions of anyone who ever lived. Any missed moment, lapse of judgement, or wasted opportunity could have potentially knocked Him off course on His way to fulfill God's purpose. And yet, He didn't let a single ball drop. He took care of His family, even in His dying...

God and Gigs 360 Gold (Presentation (16:9))

Only one question This is a different kind of "Creator Checkup"... ..because I'm the one that needs checking on. I'm sending you this in the midst of the recovery period after a tough two weeks with my family. And while I know everyone in our community is facing something...it's important that I'm open and honest with you. Because it doesn't make sense to call this a "Checkup" if we don't admit when things are going right and when things are going wrong. My wife and I use this method all the...

Just how many hats are you wearing? I don't mean fedoras, sombreros or trucker hats, of course. I'm referring the metaphorical 'hats' that we all wear in our different roles, both in our creative work and in our families and personal lives. I experienced the hat-switching at a brand new level just this week, as I found myself coordinating a band for an artist 400 miles away, while simultaneously working on our church's podcast recording and publishing. Surely this is a sign of potential...
