It's Not How You Start...It's How You Finish

Calling me a sports fan would be a bit of an exaggeration.

I enjoy watching games with my family when a local team is in the playoffs, or when there's some major buzz around a game that catches my interest. But other than that I really don't pay attention much.

One reason is because of the proliferation of sports highlight shows. In seconds I can get all of the news from several sports without committing to watching any of the actual games - and the only thing that really matters is the final score.

I can tune in, see a highlight of the final shot, the final winning touchdown, or the game-winning goal... and I'm all caught up.

What does this have to do with your creator career, you ask?

Well, we've got only 3 months left in 2025. And maybe your highlight reel isn't that great for the first 9 months.

In our YouVersion reading plan "The Creator's Battle", we share some principles and warnings about procrastination. It's quite likely that you put some things in the "I'll do it later" box when it comes to your creator goals.

But now's the time to take it back out.

It's not how you started the year creatively that determines whether 2025 will be successful. It's how you finish!

God has gifted you with time, talent and treasure - and the best way to reverse any negativity and struggle over the last few months is to get connected and get moving.

You just might have saved the best for last.

"Let Another Man Praise You"...here's how.

Many faith-led creators like us struggle to feel comfortable with promoting ourselves and our offers. When you've been taught that humility means keeping yourself hidden (that's a topic for a whole 'nother time), that's something you have to overcome.

Thankfully, one of the easiest ways to do this is to let others share the good news about your brand, your business, or your art.

It's as simple as getting those people who already love what you do to share it. Some might call this referrals, or testimonials, but the point is that you're not promoting yourself. Others are willing to tell people why they should support you.

All you have to do is ask, and use a tool like Senja to collect their testimonials so you can then share them.

Just check out this wonderful review from our friend Alex Sanfilippo of Podmatch...I made this graphic in less than a minute with Senja.

Senja has been the leading testimonial tool since it came on the scene, and I'm blessed to let you know that they've given our God and Gigs community a HUGE discount so that you can try it out.

Just go to GodandGigs.com/senja and when you check out, use promo code ALLEN and you'll get the first two months of your subscription for only ONE DOLLAR a month.

That's $2 for 2 months of getting other folks to share your message. I'd jump on this right away and see how promoting your work can be both easy and incredibly rewarding.

The Consult

What Kind of Creator Are You?

I'm not going to lie - sometimes I worry that I'm not giving you the value you need from this newsletter.

Click-rates are probably not the most accurate way to decide if a newsletter is valuable...but if I go by that, it seems that you're not interested in most of the offers I share. That's not shared out of frustration - it's just factual.

That said, if I know what kind of creator you are, it will likely help me determine whether you're interested in offers like the ones above and below - or if you just want more faith-focused, Biblical content.

Would you give this poll a quick answer so we can see what our community wants from this newsletter?

Divine Attention to Details As we step into this year's celebration of the risen Savior, one thought has been echoing in my mind. Jesus had the most important mission of all time - which meant He had the most potential distractions of anyone who ever lived. Any missed moment, lapse of judgement, or wasted opportunity could have potentially knocked Him off course on His way to fulfill God's purpose. And yet, He didn't let a single ball drop. He took care of His family, even in His dying...

Only one question This is a different kind of "Creator Checkup"... ..because I'm the one that needs checking on. I'm sending you this in the midst of the recovery period after a tough two weeks with my family. And while I know everyone in our community is facing something...it's important that I'm open and honest with you. Because it doesn't make sense to call this a "Checkup" if we don't admit when things are going right and when things are going wrong. My wife and I use this method all the...

Just how many hats are you wearing? I don't mean fedoras, sombreros or trucker hats, of course. I'm referring the metaphorical 'hats' that we all wear in our different roles, both in our creative work and in our families and personal lives. I experienced the hat-switching at a brand new level just this week, as I found myself coordinating a band for an artist 400 miles away, while simultaneously working on our church's podcast recording and publishing. Surely this is a sign of potential...
