๐Ÿ˜ณ Wait a minute...is he talking about me?

Out of all the emails in the world, this was the LAST one I expected to see.

Our good friend Mark Osborne, a fellow Christian podcaster and Podmatch Network member, sent me a one sentence message that I just happened to glance at.

He mentioned that a well-known YouTuber had just mentioned my devotional on his channel.

The name sounded familiar, so I decided to click over and search a bit.

Lo and behold...

I discover that a YouTube creator, Kevin Kolbe, has not only mentioned The Creator's Purpose, one of our YouVersion reading plans in the Creator series, but he also linked to it in the description of his video.

I don't want to focus only on the size of Kevin's audience on Youtube (over 100K subscribers) and how grateful I am for the amplified reach this video represents, but more on the alignment that this moment highlights.

Kevin is unapologetic about his faith, but his channel doesn't present faith-based content as a focus. He helps creators of all kinds. But at this moment, this devotional helped him frame a conversation that addressed a core question all of us have to answer:

"Why do you create?"

Even now, you may think that the work you're doing and your creative efforts are going unnoticed.

As Kevin says in the video, if your "why" is only about being noticed and gaining fame, you run the risk of burning out pretty fast when results don't match your expectations.

I could have felt that way about my devotional's popularity on the YouVersion app.

However, fame is not my why.

My why is that every creator should be able to truly become who God created them to be.
โ€‹
And in this instance, I was able to see that purpose realized.

I truly loved hearing Kevin's insights and reading the comments from his community.

Got a lot on your mind? Well, if you don't, I'd love to learn how you keep yourself from being overrun by all of the things that surround us daily. Like many creatives, my biggest mental battle is usually overthinking and being unable to 'switch off'. Wake up...and immediately thoughts of to-do lists, worries and events flood my head. Try to go to sleep...and I'm besieged by that "one more thing" rattling around in my brain that I didn't finish, post or complete. Maybe that's you as well....

If you're fighting a battle for your peace, you're fighting a good fight. I've become more and more aware that my greatest daily challenge is not achieving my dreams, or making a tremendous income. It's experiencing daily peace and joy without being overwhelmed by my circumstances. Isaiah 26:3 provides the key to achieving this kind of peace. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (ESV) The question is this: do we, as creatively oriented...

Sometimes...every once in a while.... God makes it obvious. Attending the 2nd ever YouVersion Partner Summit in Oklahoma City this week was more than a full-circle moment. It was God making the path clear - and I want to make sure that you see how your creative life is a part of that path. For those who don't know, YouVersion is the ministry that created the first Bible app. It's the most popular Bible platform in the world, and is now on more than a billion devices. I became a YouVersion...
