It was ALL over...or so I thought

Do you have those moments when someone reminds you about something that happened in your life...and you hardly believe you're the one that went through it?

A similar situation happened for me as a friend was describing a particularly painful season that she's going through.

I suddenly had a flashback to my own years of dealing with the same trial - except I could barely remember the pain and struggle.

I call this effect "holy amnesia".

However, that doesn't mean we shouldn't remember enough of our struggles to help some else.

That's the place I find myself in as we hit the milestone of producing our 400th God and Gigs episode this week.

I'm extraordinarily grateful that God has given grace for us to have listeners like you who made every recording and interview worth the work.

However, it's also a moment that should be more than just a pat on the proverbial back.

I remember just a few months after launching The God and Gigs Show, I did something that almost ended the podcast before it really got started.

In the midst of learning the technology behind podcasting, I did something technical - I still don't know what - that essentially broke the podcast feed. Maybe it was the company I was working with...or human error... but either way, my podcast was off-line.

One month, then two, then three - it was agonizing. And nothing was working to restore it.

I honestly don't remember how I kept going. I just know that at some point, things were restored and I went on to have one of the best seasons ever during COVID ( I know, crazy how a pandemic was a gift to podcasters).

I tell the story and the lessons learned in this week's episode - but here's why it matters to you...

....I know there's probably an obstacle that you've overcome...and you may not be giving yourself credit for it.

Yes, God got you through it - but you supplied the faith and tenacity to maintain your efforts through the struggle.

Celebrate that. Remember how God did it once, and how He can do it again.

That's what I hope our 400th episode encourages you to do.

Got a lot on your mind? Well, if you don't, I'd love to learn how you keep yourself from being overrun by all of the things that surround us daily. Like many creatives, my biggest mental battle is usually overthinking and being unable to 'switch off'. Wake up...and immediately thoughts of to-do lists, worries and events flood my head. Try to go to sleep...and I'm besieged by that "one more thing" rattling around in my brain that I didn't finish, post or complete. Maybe that's you as well....

If you're fighting a battle for your peace, you're fighting a good fight. I've become more and more aware that my greatest daily challenge is not achieving my dreams, or making a tremendous income. It's experiencing daily peace and joy without being overwhelmed by my circumstances. Isaiah 26:3 provides the key to achieving this kind of peace. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (ESV) The question is this: do we, as creatively oriented...

Sometimes...every once in a while.... God makes it obvious. Attending the 2nd ever YouVersion Partner Summit in Oklahoma City this week was more than a full-circle moment. It was God making the path clear - and I want to make sure that you see how your creative life is a part of that path. For those who don't know, YouVersion is the ministry that created the first Bible app. It's the most popular Bible platform in the world, and is now on more than a billion devices. I became a YouVersion...
